What most people call an AK-47 is actually just a Kalashinikov Ak-47 only refers to the very earliest variant built in the early 1950’s (I I believe I’ve read that it was never actually calle. I have seen a number of Norinco MAK-90s of this vintage in used condition for sale well over 1000 so 950 for a new & unused one is a pretty good deal in my opinion. That being said I simply cannot get behind the idea of swapping out perfectly good Chinese parts (922r again. According to him it shoots just fine but I personally find the thumbhole stock horrendous. but that is adding up to be a little bit pricey (922R). Serial number 94103412 indicates a manufacture date of 1994. Thanks again for the informative response. Norinco MAK-90 Sporter 7.62x39, Dragunov type stock, B-Square saddle type scope mount with Simmons scope (looks like about 4X), cloth sling, One 30 round Magpul magazine. There were so many importers of Chinese AK variants, and such poor record keeping that there really are no serial number reference guides like you can find on some better controlled firearms. Most Norinco 7.62x39 rifle were marked as 56S while some had a version of AK-47 making them the only AKM so. Pre ban rifle would be those before Bush banned evil features. Those of us who are collectors call anything marked 'MAK-90' as a post-ban rifle as in post-Bush1-ban. There were a few Poly Techs imported by the Keng family that had date marks as part of the serial numbering, but again, not all did. A little terminology about the Chinese AK and what is pre and post ban.

Unfortunately with the exception of the later MAK-90s from 19 which had the 93 and 94 in front of the serial number, I don't know of any other Norincos that had date stamps, and serial numbers are also not a way to determine true import date because I have seen pre-Bush1-ban 56S with higher serial numbers than post-Bush1-ban MAK-90s, which are nothing more than a 56S with all the Bush1 demanded evil features removed.
